Tools needed: wire cutter, wire stripper, soldering iron, solder, heat shrink tubing Optional: butt connectors, crimper There are a few ways to change the fan, the best being soldering, then butt connectors, and lastly twisting the wires together. Since twisting is not as reliable I wont cover it, and I'm sure you can figure it out if you feel it will do you. Remove the power supply from the case (usually 4 screws in the back) and open it up (usually 4 screws). You shouldn't have to worry about getting a shock, unless you like to poke your fingers everywhere. Once opened find the fan wires.
Now remove the fan (usually 4 screws) and cut the wires about half way. Next strip the end of the wires.
Now strip the ends of the wires on the new fan and slide the heat shrink tubing on the wires now, If you are using butt connectors then you don't need heat shrink.
Now twist the wires together and solder, or if using butt connectors slide the wires in and crimp and you are done. ![]() ![]()
Once soldered slide the heat shrink over the soldered wire and apply heat with either a heat gun or cigarette lighter.
That's it, just test it and if it's working put the cover back on and put it back in the case. |
